What can you do to prevent breast milk from staining your clothes?

Are you breastfeeding and does your breast milk happen to stain your clothes? Don’t worry – there are ways. Learn about them and never worry about milk stains again!

Breastfeeding – why is it worth it?

Without a doubt, breastfeeding is the best way to feed newborns and babies. Mother’s milk provides all the necessary ingredients for the proper development of the child. It is food fully adapted to the needs of a small organism, providing

amino acids and enzymes responsible for proper brain development and digestion. Although feeding modified milk is also an appropriate choice if exclusive breastfeeding is not possible, a natural way of feeding your little one is strongly recommended.

How long to breastfeed?

This is a very individual question, and experts have differing opinions. How long to breastfeed? It is certainly worth betting on exclusive feeding in this way until the time of expanding the diet, that is, for the first six months of the toddler’s life. Many mothers continue breastfeeding for up to a year, or even up to two years. There is no one correct answer to this question, but certainly the feeding should last as long as the mother and the child want it to. This is an individual matter and should be considered as such.

Breast milk stains clothes – what should I do?

A young mother who decides to breastfeed must also prepare herself for various difficult situations, one of which is that breast milk can stain clothes. What can you do to avoid this? Fortunately, there are ways to avoid it. Manufacturers of hygiene products offer special pads that are placed in the bra. We can choose disposable products, which we throw away right away when they get too soaked with milk, but this is not the only option.

Moms who want to be more eco-friendly like to use reusable breast pads, which you wash regularly. Even before giving birth get yourself such accessories, because they will be very useful especially in the first months of motherhood. It is safe to say that breast pads are the basis of a future mother’s layette. Whether you will use disposable breast pads or decide to be more eco-friendly and reach for the reusable ones is an individual matter. Both variants will fulfill their role and protect you from unpleasant surprises.

How can I wash the breast milk out of my clothes?

If, however, it happens that your milk stains your clothes or, for instance, your baby’s, there is no need to panic. Fortunately, modern clothes cleaners can do the job. When milk stains your clothes, it’s important to act as quickly as possible. Soak the stained clothes in lukewarm water and then sprinkle baking soda on the stained area. Then, scrub the area with a toothbrush, for example.
